The Hotpoint electric range is a vintage kitchen appliance. Heck, my granny still has her 1960's stove-top in her small cottage by the lake and it's still working perfectly. But, General Electric is well known for producing some of the most solid kitchen appliances in the marketplace, and their Hot Point series is no exception.

I've encountered quite a few bad brands when I was employed as a salesperson at a local appliance store, and I could always confirm the quality of GE appliances. There are a couple of other good brands out there, but GE just produces some classic workhorses. We also had several of those fancy European (and particularly Italian) models in our store, and they definitely had certain aesthetic qualities - they're lovely little things, honestly - but they would be returned time and time again with all types of problems.

This was really a headache because the parts were so much more costly. While the initial commissions on appliances like that were higher, and they were good looking machines at first sight, I soon figured out that it wasn't worthwhile selling them. It not only cost the shop money (in which I became a partial investor after a few years) because of the greater amount of repairs we had to do on the machines, but it also hurt my sales in the end.

People get angry when you sell them stuff that breaks. Even if you did not know about the quality issues, and ready to fix the problem ASAP, it still was quite a bit of time out of someone's day. From all of my experience, I can assure you that GE produces some great appliances, and their electric ranges particularly stand out. Not only to do they keep abreast of all of the new (and now evidently necessary features), but they are much less likely to break down.

Fewer and fewer companies produce quality products, and the Hotpoint electric ranges are still the workhorses that they have always been. Frankly, if you're actually using your appliances, there is no reason to just go for anything that looks nice. Pick out something that works to combine style and function. And be certain it is a good model. From my experiences, you can't go astray with a GE Hotpoint range.
